Story
CIA operative Joe tries to balance his personal and professional life as the spearhead of the agency’s war against terrorist activities, etc… mr. Sheridan knows how to bring us into testosterone-fueled, macho worlds without cliches and seemingly without an agenda. It is what it is. An apology is not necessary.
Guys are simple
His characters are always grounded and he is extremely adept at casting. But to be great, you have to write good parts for women. The writing must be as good, if not better, than for men. Women are more intelligent, more complex. Beth on Yellowstone (a great character and performance), the barrel horse riders, the lone female ranch hand (the fantastic Jen Landon as Teeter) are all great female characters who fit into the world of the story in a natural, effortless way.
They are strong and convincing
Not only 'partner…' or T & A. He stepped up his game with the excellent character Faith Hill, whom she crushed in "1883" followed by Dame Mirren in the misfire that was “1923”. Now we have Zoe Saldana doing some of the best work of her career. I totally buy her as the head of the CIA in an open marriage (nice touch). I buy De Oliveira as a broken woman with a burning rage that won’t stop, and thank you, thank you, thank you to the writers/directors/producers for not letting her get the best of a fellow soldier plus one hundred pounds of muscle.
I’m buying it
Truth first! I think her character is much more interesting if she’s someone who needs to be knocked out cold or just overpowered on the ground before she stops. Now let’s talk about Jill Wagner or should I say her hair? As for the face! From dirty Hallmark to super-badass special forces?

Lanier as the ugly teenage daughter. I’m looking forward to the arc set up for this loose canon as long as they continue to avoid the clichés of teenage angst. Good actor, it could be interesting.
